Well, it is 1:30pm US Eastern time and I was mesmerized by what is going on is Egypt.  20 years ago we may have said that 24 hours news stations had a hand in spreading news.  With smart phones, PDAs and social media sites like Twitter and Facebook, anyone who can afford these devices can have their voices heard. Facebook and Twitter are being credited with having a helping hand in encouraging the peaceful demonstrations and bringing the news to the rest the world.

I grew up with hearing the Disney song “It’s a Small World” and social media has helped to this to a new reality.   Being from South Asia and having grown up in North America, I do feel that I have a broad and open perspective.  I am grateful for my time at a global corporation where I worked directly with people from all over (Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa and South America).  We are more alike than different and social media can bridge and help connect and shorten the distance to that of instant messages (SMS, Tweets and postings).
